How to teach coding agents Roblox Studio, Unreal and game servers with skill packs
A skill is a folder of instructions and scripts that a coding agent loads only when a task needs it. Here is how packs from Scenario, Gameye and Epic work, and where they fall short.
Key points
- Install one skill pack for your engine into the agent's skills folder, not several at once.
- Ask the agent which skills it sees, then start with a small task you can check.
- Read any scripts a pack includes and back its work with tests or a reviewer.
Scenario added 14 Roblox Studio skills to its open-source skill pack for coding agents on October 20, according to the version 0.59.0 release notes in its GitHub repository. MakeGameWithAI reported the release the next day. Gameye, Epic Games and independent developers have published packs too, aimed at one gap: a general coding agent writes code well but doesn't know an engine's tools or traps.
A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file of instructions, sometimes with reference notes and helper scripts beside it. Anthropic's Claude Code documentation says the agent keeps each skill's short description in context and reads the full instructions only when the skill is used, so a large pack stays cheap until a task needs it.
How it works
- You install the pack into the agent's skills folder (.claude/skills or ~/.claude/skills in Claude Code) by copying it, with npx skills add or as a plugin.
- The agent sees each skill's name and one-line description.
- When your request matches a description, the agent loads that skill and runs the scripts it points to.
- Larger packs use a lead skill that routes the job to specialists.
Scenario's lead skill, scenario-roblox-expert, hands work to 13 specialists covering Luau code, networking, UI, animation, performance, monetization and more, according to the pull request that added them. They drive Studio through Roblox's built-in MCP server (a connection that lets an agent use the editor's tools) to run code, start playtests and capture the screen. Scenario's 0.60.0 release on October 26 added a skill that captures motion from video.
Gameye's pack has 12 skills, per its README, including a start-here skill, dedicated server builds for Unity, Unreal, Godot and Node.js browser games, containers, testing and matchmaking; its Claude Code plugin also bundles Gameye's MCP server. Epic's Unreal Engine Skills plugin adds an unreal-mcp skill and a hook telling Claude it is in an Unreal project; Sentry's Ivan Tustanivskyi wrote in an October 6 blog post that in Sentry's tests it meant fewer follow-up prompts. rehan-remade's Universal Modder, first posted to GitHub on September 30, mods PC games from a mod-any-game starting skill and fal's MCP server; it had more than 9,000 GitHub stars on October 29. duolahypercho's Gauntlet Loop packages Matt Shumer's game-building prompt as a skill for Claude Code and Codex.
Why it matters
A skill pack is the cheapest way to give an agent an engine expert's checklist without pasting it into every prompt. It complements the packs in our story "Open-source Blender skill packs let agents build node graphs and export to engines".
Limits and caveats
AIGamer hasn't tested these packs, and quality varies. Many are weeks old; Gameye's repository showed no stars on October 29. A skill doesn't prove the result works; Scenario's own lead skill tells agents to "pass on a parsed result, never on tool text." Pair skills with tests or a separate reviewer, as in "Report: Agents wrote Pixkrieg's 3,700 commits under strict CI and a review agent". Skills can include scripts the agent runs, so read them before installing.
How to try it
- Install one pack for the engine you use, not several.
- Ask the agent which skills it can see.
- Start with a small task you can check, such as one playtest or one server build.
