Roblox says more than 80% of its 100 most-played games, ranked by hours engaged, used AI tools to speed up creation over the past month. The figure is in the company's Q3 2026 shareholder letter, filed with the SEC on October 29. GamesBeat's Dean Takahashi reported it minutes after the results came out.
According to the letter, the number of people using Roblox's MCP server each day grew nearly 5x since Q2. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for plugging AI assistants into other software; Roblox's server connects them to Studio. Over the same period, time spent in AI tools (Build, Studio Assistant and external AI via MCP) tripled among top creators. Daily asset uploads to the Roblox cloud tripled month over month.
Roblox named two games it says were made almost entirely with AI and reached its top 20 by concurrent players in Q3: Break and Steal an Egg, and Huss Valley. It also says published games using AI grew more than 50% quarter over quarter, and that 97% of regular AI users in a creator survey said it sped up their work.
Build, Roblox's prompt-to-game tool, has had more than 500,000 users and over 70,000 published games during alpha tests in New Zealand, Singapore, Serbia and Thailand. In an October 8 blog post, using data through September 1, Roblox put those counts at over 100,000 players and about 9,000 games.
Why it matters: Roblox now counts MCP alongside its own Build and Assistant, a sign that connecting your own model to Studio is becoming a standard route, not a side path. Faster creation also means more competition for players: the letter says about 40% of the weekly top 100 games in Roblox's recommendations feed by the end of Q3 were made in the previous three months. Our earlier OpenGameEval story covers how well 13 frontier models handle Studio work.
Caveat: These are Roblox's own figures and haven't been independently checked. The letter doesn't define what counts as using AI tools or give the base numbers behind the MCP growth. GamesBeat's report says an AI-made game reached the top 10; the letter says top 20.
What's next: CEO David Baszucki said on the October 29 earnings call that Build gets a broader US release in December and a global rollout in 2027. The letter says a free base tier will stay, with paid tiers for more prompts.
