Comparison
Bolt vs Replit for making web games (2026)
Neither is a game tool, but both build browser games from a prompt and let you download the code. Bolt has sponsored the Vibe Jam twice; Replit documents a native mobile game example.

Bolt's free plan includes a monthly token allowance and website hosting, and Bolt has sponsored the Vibe Jam, a browser game jam, in 2025 and 2026. Replit's docs walk through building a game app for iOS and Android, and its paid plans add parallel agents and a more autonomous build mode. Neither markets itself for games: both are general website and app builders, and a browser game is one kind of web app. AIGamer hasn't tested either tool hands-on; this comparison is based on each company's pricing pages and help docs as of October 29, 2026.
The short version
- Bolt suits you if you want a browser game prototype with nothing to install, a free plan with 1 million tokens a month and hosting, and a way to move the project to GitHub later.
- Replit suits you if you want a game app for phones as well as the web, can work within a free plan that keeps one published app online for 30 days, and expect to pay $20 a month for the Agent's Full build mode.
How they differ for game development
How you work with it
Both run in the browser: you chat, an agent writes the code and a preview updates. Bolt's help center says it runs on WebContainers, built by StackBlitz, the company behind Bolt, which runs a full development environment inside your browser, so there's nothing to install. Replit's Agent writes, runs and publishes apps on Replit's platform. Replit's blog says Agent 4, published March 11, 2026, added a design canvas and parallel agents that work on separate tasks; at launch, Replit said parallel tasks were for Pro and Enterprise users, with temporary access for Core users.
Games and platforms
Bolt's FAQ describes it as a builder for websites, web apps, mobile apps and prototypes, with mobile apps made through its Expo integration; games aren't mentioned. Replit's docs include one game example: a quickstart in which the Agent builds PixelGames, a game app styled like a Game Boy-era handheld, as a native iOS and Android app with one playable game, Blocks, previewed in a simulator inside Replit. For web games, both treat the game as an ordinary web project.
Bolt has the closer link to game jams. The archived 2025 jam site, hosted by Pieter Levels (@levelsio), is titled "Bolt Vibe Coding Game Jam 2025," lists Bolt.new among its sponsors and says more than 1,000 games were entered. Bolt.new was a Gold sponsor of the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose press page says the organizer recommends Cursor's Composer 3 and Bolt.new for building browser games with Three.js.
Pricing and limits (October 2026)
Bolt's pricing page lists a free plan with 1 million tokens a month and a 300,000-token daily limit, with website hosting and Bolt branding. Pro is $25 a month, starting at 10 million tokens with unused tokens rolling over, plus a custom domain; Teams is $30 per member a month. Bolt says most token use comes from syncing your project's files to the AI, so a larger game uses more tokens per message.
Replit's pricing page lists Core at $20 a month ($18 billed yearly) and Pro from $100 a month ($90 billed yearly), each with Free Mode usage and a monthly amount toward more powerful models. Its free Starter plan, described in Replit's docs rather than on the pricing page, gives daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap but only Lite build, for quick edits; Full build, for more autonomous development, needs Core or Pro. Starter also allows one published app whose link goes down after 30 days.
Taking your code with you
Both let you leave. Bolt's help center explains how to download a project as a zip file and how to create a new GitHub repository from a Bolt project. Replit's docs say you can download a project with "Download as zip" from the menu at the top of the file tree.
Limits
With no game-specific tools in either, a game's structure and quality depend on what the agent writes, as our AI game makers guide notes about Replit. Larger games get harder in both; our vibe coding guide recommends small steps, Git and playing the game after every change.
Which to choose
For a game jam entry or a quick browser prototype you want to share without paying, Bolt's free plan includes hosting with no 30-day limit listed. For a phone game, or a project where you'd pay for parallel agents, Replit documents more of what you'd need. Either way, you can download the code once the game takes shape and carry on with a coding agent on your own machine.
FAQ
Can Bolt or Replit make games?
Yes, though neither is built for it. Both write web apps, and a browser game is a web app. Replit's docs include a mobile game example; Bolt sponsored the 2025 and 2026 Vibe Jams.
Is Bolt or Replit free?
Both have free plans. Bolt's gives 1 million tokens a month; Replit's Starter gives daily Agent credits, Lite build only, and one published app that goes offline after 30 days.
Which is cheaper, Bolt or Replit?
Replit Core is $20 a month ($18 billed yearly) and Bolt Pro is $25 a month, as of October 2026. The allowances aren't directly comparable: Bolt counts tokens, while Replit combines Free Mode usage with a monthly amount for more powerful models.
Can I export my game from Bolt or Replit?
Yes. Both let you download a project as a zip, and Bolt can also create a GitHub repository for it.
