According to the developer's launch devlog, you beat 5 bosses to collect their keys, sneak past Count Vladislav Nocturne in a Haunted Manor, and then open the Hell Door to fight the Devil in a lava arena. The game has 3 difficulty settings (Cozy, Spooky and Terrifying) and full Xbox controller support. It's free, with a name-your-own-price option, and runs in the browser on itch.io or as a Windows download.
The developer has kept updating it since launch, according to the game's devlog on itch.io. The browser version arrived with v1.8.4 on November 1, which also stopped spiders and the witch from firing orbs at players while off screen. Update v1.8.9 on November 2 made player builds stay saved and turned fences and walls into real obstacles. As of November 3, the current download is v1.8.10.
How it was made: The game is built in Godot; its web build uses Godot 4's export template. On the itch.io page, the developer marks Lantern Hollow as AI Assisted under itch's AI disclosure, listing AI use for the game's code, graphics, sounds and text. The developer doesn't name the AI tool on the page, and the devlogs describe the game's updates rather than how they were made.
