How it was made: Cabello built it with Anthropic's Claude. On February 6, 2026 he posted a video on X captioned "Hey Claude, can you help me port Descent to Three.js?", and the README credits the port to "@mrdoob with @claude". On GitHub, 37 commits made between February 14 and 19, 2026 carry a co-author line for Claude Opus 4.6, and 25 commits from May 30 to June 3 name Claude Opus 4.8. The other 31 February commits and the 245 pushed in August 2026 have no such line, and neither Cabello nor the README says how much of the work Claude did or which tools were used to run it. The game runs on Descent's original shareware data files rather than new AI-generated assets.

Three Descent
- Web browser
Summary
Three Descent (its web page is titled Three.js Descent) is a browser port of Descent, Parallax Software's first-person shooter in which the player pilots a ship that can move and rotate freely on every axis, known as six degrees of freedom (6DOF). It was made by Ricardo Cabello, known online as mrdoob, who first released the Three.js 3D library in 2010. The project's README credits Parallax with the original game and links to an archived copy of Descent's source code on GitHub. The repo includes the shareware data files for Episode 1, so the first episode is free to play; according to the README, owners of the full game can replace them with files from a registered copy. The port's code is MIT-licensed. Cabello shared it on X on February 14, 2026 as "the very first alpha", noting that plenty of details were still missing, and the repo's latest commits are from August 16, 2026. He has also ported Quake to Three.js.
