Cursor is an AI code editor for macOS, Windows and Linux, with agents that write and change code across a project, plus a CLI and cloud agents. In an August 14, 2026 blog post, Cursor said it had been acquired by SpaceX, completing a process that began with a partnership in April.
Pricing changed on October 12, 2026, when xAI announced The X Subscription, which puts Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium on one plan. On Cursor's pricing page as of October 2026, Plus costs $8 a month and offers only Grok models; Premium ($30), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200) raise the shared Grok usage pool and allow third-party models, which are billed separately at API list prices. Cursor's forum announcement says existing subscribers are being offered the option to switch, and keep their included third-party usage until they do.
Cursor has a place in vibe coding history: on February 22, 2025, Pieter Levels (@levelsio) posted on X that he had asked Cursor to make a 3D flying game in the browser, the start of his browser flight simulator. Cursor was the lead sponsor of the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, alongside Bolt.new, Glif and Tripo AI, with $40,000 in prizes, according to the jam's press page. The godot-mcp README includes setup steps for Cursor, letting its agent run Godot projects and read errors.
It suits people who want to read the code as it's written. AIGamer hasn't tested it; see our vibe coding guide.
