Canvas is a workspace inside Google's Gemini app for writing documents and building small apps. Google's Canvas page says you can describe an idea and Canvas writes the code for a working app or game you can share; its examples include a sound memory game and a 3D planet generator. Google introduced Canvas in a March 18, 2025 blog post.
According to Google's help center, you need to be signed in, then choose Canvas from the menu below the text box and describe what you want. You can keep asking Gemini for changes, open the code and edit it yourself, check a console for errors, or select part of the app and ask Gemini to change just that. Signed-in users aged 18 or over can also add Gemini-powered features, such as text generation, to the app.
Canvas is part of the free Gemini plan and every paid plan. Google's Canvas page says Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month in the US) and Ultra (from $99.99) subscribers get it with Google's most capable model and a 1 million token context window, which helps with longer projects (as of October 2026).
For game developers, Canvas is a quick way to sketch a mechanic or a toy. Apps are shared by public link, and the help center's export options (Docs, Slides and Colab) don't include downloading an app's files, so bigger projects belong in an engine or a coding agent. AIGamer hasn't tested it.

From Gemini Canvas's own pricing page, checked 29 October 2026. Prices change; check before you buy.
Limitation: Google's help center lists no way to download a Canvas app's files, so it suits quick experiments more than a game you plan to keep developing.
