godot-mcp is a free, open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the Godot engine, made by the GitHub user Coding-Solo. MCP is an open standard that lets an AI agent call an application's tools. According to the project's README, godot-mcp lets an agent launch the Godot editor, run a project in debug mode, capture console output and errors, start and stop the game, create scenes, add nodes, load sprites and update file UIDs in Godot 4.4 and later.
You run it with npx (the npm package's latest version is 0.1.1, published February 3, 2026) and need Godot, Node.js 18 or later and an MCP-capable agent. The README gives setup steps for Claude Code (a single command), Cline and Cursor. Simple tasks use Godot's own command-line options; scene and node edits go through one bundled GDScript file. That feedback loop matters for games: the agent can run the build and read the error instead of guessing.
The repository was created on February 26, 2025, is MIT-licensed and had 6,417 GitHub stars when we checked on October 29, 2026. It isn't an official Godot project. Alternatives exist, including GDAI MCP, a paid editor plugin ($19 one time, Godot 4.2 and later) whose site says it adds screenshots and simulated input.
AIGamer hasn't tested it. See our AI game engines guide for where Godot fits.
Plans and pricing

From Godot MCP's own pricing page, checked 29 October 2026. Prices change; check before you buy.
Limitation: It drives Godot through its command line and a bundled GDScript file rather than a plugin inside the open editor, per its README, and the repository's last code push was on April 16, 2026.
